Tree Pruning and Fertilization

Tree Tips and Care

In light of our recent contest, we wanted to give all of our readers helpful information on Tree Pruning and Fertilization. The season is here for tree cleaning, and we highly recommend making sure it is taken care before Summer hits. When we prune your trees, it is important to not have them thinned out during the scorching heat.

Before summer hits we:
  • Remove dead or dying branches injured by disease, severe insect infestation, animals, storms, or other adverse mechanical damage.
  • Remove branches and branch stubs that rub together.
  • Prune and pick fruit and then fertilize
Tree pruning is applicable to all trees and not limited to one type. After we have pruned the trees at your residential or commercial property, we recommend fertilizing your trees as well. A particularly essential factor to fertilizing your citrus fruit trees is the removal of older fruit. We want all the new nutrients to go into feeding the tree and new fruit growth. By picking your fruit before we fertilize, your trees will grow healthier and your fruit will be tastier!

Tree Trunk Painting

Another helpful tip to keeping your citrus trees healthy, is painting the trunk of your trees. I am sure you have seen white paint at the base of a citrus trees before. This is a necessary step to take so the sun does not burn the tree. If you want to keep your trees looking more natural we offer brown paint so it blends in with the trunk. Most of our customer don't know that brown paint is available, so we want to make sure we educate you on your options.

Seasonal Tree Fertilization

Fertilizing Your Trees | Stark Contrast Landscaping, LLC

The tree fertilizing season is upon us!

We want to keep you informed with seasonal tips on how to keep your yard looking beautiful, while also keeping your plants and trees healthy. Before we, Stark Contrast Landscaping, come out to fertilize your trees, it is important that you remove the preexisting fruit. Any "older" fruit on the tree, that you want to keep, needs to be removed. Once we fertilize the tree, all the nutrients need to go to the new growth/fruit.

Fertilizing season applies to all tree types - Citrus, Elm, Ash and any other trees in your yard. By fertilizing, your trees will look lush year round and, in turn, produce better tasting fruit.
